    "Koi's Law"

Not as an attempt to dissuade anyone from getting into this very addictive hobby, I thought I'd start a thread giving examples of the things with which we have to contend, where other contributors can add examples of their own experiences.

    Here's a couple to start;

If you're building a pool or making any sort of alterations to one, as soon as you are part-way through it, it'll start raining.

If any koi decides to go "fins up" it's likely to be your favourite.

When you carefully remove any piece of equipment for maintenance where washers or "O" rings are employed to prevent leaks...When you come to reassemble it, one will be missing.

I'd add that usually the only available equipment on hand, will be a bucket and a torch!

    1. some equipment is bound to break down the day after the warranty expires.

    2. the ''why didnt i think of that'' moment

    3. the ''i wish i had done that instead of this''

    4. the moment you lean over too far to fish something out of the pond, hear a ''plop'', look down and then see your brand new mobile gently floating to the bottom of the pond.

OMG some of you have really been through pain for your hobby

    Laura did that really happen?

Had a heron get one of my tosai in 2008, bummer... can't get in now.

Laura, also had my mobile phone drop down the bottom of the baby tank.

    Another one to add.

Never trust bendy pipework to add extra o2 when treating. I lost half my pond water down the garden and into next door when treating with PP for Trich... didn't do the grass much good either, turned it purple.

you order something off the tinternet a couple of days ago, and then need to pop out to get some bits, only to come home and find them tell tale cardboard delivery notices laying on your door mat saying politely in their own talk ''You missed it stupid!!''

aaarrgghh!!! infuriating having to wait for re delivery or getting stuck in traffic because that milk and bread was just sooooo important and couldnt wait a few hours.

Decades ago, kids used to play a game called "Knock down Ginger" where they'd knock on someone's door and then run away having disappeared up the road before anyone answered.

    Now it's called "Parcel Force."
