Mixed weather yesterday at Coventry - Rain, cold, sun shine and Wind!!
Temperature wise neither mild nor very cold - between 7 and 4 C
Started the pump, the filter and the Air Pump..
Added 0.5 ppm Ammonia and the live bacteria
Water temperature measure yesterday at 6 pm was 6 degree but the weather is improving and will be very mild with highs of between 10 - 12 for the next few week. So that's good.
I work away from home Mondays to Thursdays. So will check and update progress on Thursday evening.
Don't know if any bacteria will establish during this week.
Haven't started the UV and the heat pump yet. Will put a temporary cover (have a plan to built a DIY fish house - that will take time!!) to start the heat pump soon.Last edited by bis; 11-02-2019 at 12:29 PM.

A fine morning with clear spells and quite mild. There’s been a heavy dew once again, but the day ahead will be and pleasant day for mid February with sunny spells. Temperatures will be near average or slightly above. A cooler night to come with maybe a ground frost.
Current temp is 7.1°c and the pond is on 12.4°c.

Quite a few mild days with maybe record breaking high temps this week? It’s overcast right now with a light breeze, so no sign of the sun yet (10:50)
Outside in the open it’s 12.6°c 69% RH in the shade it’s 11.1°c.
The pond is slowly climbing up, currently @ 9.9°c, whilst in the polytunnel it’s 14.2°c (has hit 18°+ on occasions).
Thinking of putting the auto feed back on, as I’m hand feeding most days currently?
I bet winter is not done with us yet?

Clear skies to greet the new day (my birthday!) with a reddish tinge. It is dry again, no frost and it’s set to be another very mild and sunny day with almost calm winds. Not much change into tonight though maybe a greater chance of some fog.
Current temp is 3.0°c and the pond is on 12.7°c.

Chilly and foggy again to start with this morning but it’s now slowing lifting and the sun is viable through the fog. Today will be another dry and quite warm feeling day for late February with long sunny periods. Dry into tonight with mist and fog returning.
Current temp is 6.6°c and the pond is on 12.7°c.

Colder than recently with a slight frost this morning but no fog as a trade off. The frost will soon clear once the sun gets to work on it and it is set to be another warm and sunny day. Clear skies again tonight with a slight frost again by dawn tomorrow.
Current temp is -1.7°c and the pond is on 12.3°c.

Another lovely dawn with clear skies, a touch of frost, and calm winds. Today will be another warm and sunny day, but sadly the last for a while as change is afoot. Some cloud will move in overnight. Before then though, another gorgeous late February day.
Current temp is -0.6°c and the pond is on 12.4°c.

The Daily pond temp thread
South Norfolk
Been a bit blowy the last few days, & some much needed rain yesterday, ( first for ages) currently back to bright sunshine after being grey all day yesterday?
Out in the open it’s 9.8°c & rising @ 10:07 also 60% RH
in the shade it’s 7.6°c, whilst the pond has been slowly creeping up? Inside the polytunnel has reached 20°+ a few days ago, now @ 16.7°c @ 82% RH, & the pond has climbed to 10.6°c.
I still haven’t put the auto feed back on, as we are still seeing some sub zero nights, & the cloud cover holds the temps down for longer, in the mornings! So still the occasional hand feed.
Roll on Spring.

A chilly start with misty clearing skies and a touch of grass frost. It will be dry through much of daylight hours with sunny spells this morning. Cloud will increase this afternoon and some outbreaks of rain will reach us this evening. A wet night is then in store with some heavy bursts at times.
Current temp is 2.2°c and the pond is on 12.4°c.

A dry and breezy start to the day with some brightness towards the east. Cloud and a few showers aren’t far away to our NW and will reach us this morning. Further showers are possible through the day but also sunny spells at times. It will be a windy day again, although it’s not as bad as forecast here.
Current temp is 6.2°c and the pond is on 12.7°c.

A very nice sunny day today, & thankfully those blustery winds have died down, it was cold in those winds, forecast is for temps up into the teens next week? Although still a few cold nights to come!
Out in the open it’s 10.4°c 41% RH @ 1250, in the shade it’s 8.4°c
The polytunnel is currently sitting @ 18.2°c & the pond is 11.4°c still hand feeding, but the cold nights & high winds of late made the koi not interested in feeding, but yesterday (late) they were ravenous again?

Agree about those nasty winds.
My lot have been gulping food down since removing covers at 8C a couple of weeks back. Should be able to achieve 10C unheated before the day is out and will probably feed a 2nd time today.

A chilly morning but no frost, with generally cloudy skies and just a few breaks here and there. There was a red sky at dawn and there is the chance of some patchy rain towards evening. Temperatures will be near average and winds will be a lots lighter than of late. Any rain should peter out tonight with a dry start tomorrow.
Current temp is 3.2°c and the pond is on 12.4°c.

Another dry and mild start this morning with some mist and fog just now. It will remain dry today with some sunshine but also rather a lot of cloud - more so than yesterday. It will be quite mild again but temperatures a shade down on yesterday’s. Similar for tomorrow.
Current temp is 7.0°c and the pond is on 12.4°c.
