Yep, I think once a day at a chosen time would be good. It'll be interesting to look back as the autumn progresses to see how various ponds have shaped up.

    4" 'Avenue' bottom drain
    Estro sieve
    Econobead EB60 bead filter
Sequence 18000 pump, 6000 pump on skimmer line
    Elecro 2kW in-line heater
    Evolution Aqua 70 air pump
    Standard wall skimmer
    Hozelock Vorton 55watt UV
    and some nice koi

Angela and Mark added to the spreadsheet.

Don't forget to pm me your email address if you want to enter your own readings (but I'm happy to enter them for you too)

There's a chart on the spreadsheet too (click chart1 at the bottom)

Could I mischievously ask why people with heaters that are heating are giving all their details?

My heater is set to 14'c. So, unsurprisingly, regardless of how much above ground / below ground / gallonage / location etc, my pond is at 14'c

I would add that it's only just started to kick in overnight.... I was a happy 18'c a week ago...

The heater was reading 22.2 this morning. So I took the temp from the actual pond and thee temp was 19.8. I then took the temp from the nexus pump chamber and the temp was 22.0. So it looks to me that the medo pumping hot air into the nexus is acting like a heating device. The tubing that runs from the medo 120ltr to the nexus is always very hot indeed. So based in this I will need to assume that the pond water is always 3 degrees colder than the heater reading. This is the reason that my temps seemed excessive at first. So to heat at 16 degrees I will need to set the heater to 19. Anyone else have this kind if change between filter and pond?
I always seem to have 1deg of difference with m heater reading and my pond thermometer. Since we are speaking about our temperatures I just read somewhere that there is no point leaving the temperature at 12 you are better keeping it under 10 or about 14 what is your thoughts. I kept my pond at 12 last year but since then folks have said I need to give the koi a right winter period. Had our first frost last night

Because I'm obsessed with this kind of thing I've added a daily max and min to my temperatures on the spreadsheet, if anyone wants to track that too just post the daily max and min temperature here.

Apparently 10 - 16 is the dangerous area in terms of the koi's immune system and parasites. I'm going to keep mine at 16 if I can. If it means the heater is on all the tme, then I wil slowly drop it to 10 and maintain.

Unfortunatley I'm on home early morning and late evening so can not measure the temps throughout the day .

Another reason to buy a Seneye

I like that it gives me graphs of NH3, pH and Temperature, it may not be 100% accurate but the trends are great in my opinion.

I'm not sure seeing the trend of temperature is useful but it makes me happy
