Pumps and water blade / waterfalls etc.
At the moment on my 5500 Litre pond I just have the one pump which is feeding the filter then from the filter to a 600mm water blade via an inline valve. By turning the flow down to suit the water blade I'm only getting half the throughput through the filter.
Is it better to have 2 pumps one for the water blade and one for the filter, or should I just have one pump and balance it with two valves, circulating some of the output from the filter to the water blade and some straight back to the pond.
During the winter when I turn off the waterfall will need an air pump? At the moment I only have 4 goldfish and 2 baby Koi, so thinking ahead I'm wondering what the best solution is? Any thoughts?

Whatever you decide to do you will still need a method for getting the water moving and oxygenated.
I've got one pump 2" pipe and split the flow between filter and straight back into the pond for movement and oxygen reducing to 1.5" where it splits.
On the flow straight into the pond I've a 1.5" ball valve tap.
This way i can adjust how the full load is shared.
