    Dura+ 10 ASHP problem

Hi. Unfortunately my dura+ 10 has stopped heating the pond. Great time of year to happen!

Some initial professional analysis (remote and off-site based on my feedback) suggests that the compressor may have stopped working. My unit is three years old.

Just wondering if if anyone else has been in this position and if so, how did you resolve as I have been advised that worse case scenario, it may be more cost effective to replace than repair....ouch!

    Thanks. Ian.

    What are the symptoms?

Electrics working, fan working, possibly compressor not starting, hence inlet and outlet temps are the same rather than the normal 1c to 2c difference. All valves on bypass still in same position as always have been so water flow in/out gas not changed.

I have a refrigeration engineer coming to look this week or next.

I had an issue with mine where it would just sit humming with the fan rotating slowly. Have you had any issues with power outages?
There is an issue where if you have a power outage you need to reset the timers, as it deteriorates it loses the settings and you have to get into it further and redo all the parameters, it is a board issue, the new ones now though do not keep the clock settings if you lose power though.
Interestingly, I googled the part number on the control board, it is also fitted to the Dream ASHP’s.

If the performance of the filter pump has reduced slightly so that the flow through the heat pump has dropped, those are the symptoms I would expect to be caused if the flow switch has switched off the compressor to save it from running with an inadequate water flow.

The bypass valve only adjusts the flow through the heat pump in order to give the optimum heat transfer so it won't hurt the heat pump if you need it fully closed to trigger the flow switch. Try closing the bypass valve and, if the compressor starts (after the usual delay), you could investigate the reason for a reduced filter pump flow.

Thanks Syd. I did try this at the weekend and no luck.

Our electric has cut out recently. Interesting and I’ll check settings as you advise. Thank you.

My Dura+10 suffered with the same problem, in that all settings are lost after a power loss. The fan would run but no compressor. A phone call to heatpumps4pools identified the problem as a faulty main board. They said it would be fine to keep using it, but a power loss mid winter was too great a risk. I bought a replacement board. I can’t remember exactly how much the board was but I think it was around 200.
It was a fairly easy diy job to replace if you’re comfortable with a bit of wiring. The biggest problem is that many of the wires are all the same colour, grey, so take some photos before, and move the wires to the new board one at a time so not to mix then up.
    I hope this helps.

Get your user manual out and check the parameters, they are all listed what the settings should be, go through them one by one. Taking particular interest to Parameter number 11, the chances are the setting has changed to Zero, needs to be adjusted to 1. Parameter 11 is for, Fan Control.

if it’s a water flow issue, if the flow is to little, it will turn off and display FLO.

paid 189 for a new board back in June.

Thank you. That’s interesting and feels like something that shouldn’t happen.

Thanks. I’ll do that. Pump is new from filter and flow all good. I’ll check settings today. Engineer coming Wednesday so I’m sure it will get sorted. Just hoping it’s not too expensive..... I think it might be
