Polycarb sheeting
Hi
Just wondering where people get their polycarb sheets from. I used to get it from Nick Grey in Tamworth the last time I needed some but it looks like he no longer trades as I cant find his web site anymore.
Leicester area.
Cheers Mark p

what sheet thickness do you recommend?

Depends on use really I would have thought but could be wrong 16mm would keep heat in pond asa cover but would need a good weight bearing frame where as 25 30 mm has a load more strength for heavy snowfall

What do you use to cut it to size Johnathan?
I was thinking of slotting pipe insulation along the edges to make a seal around the frame of the pond. That should work shouldn't it?
I don't need to worry too much about strength as I'll lay it over the top of my existing mesh cover and screw it down.
In this scenario do you think 16mm would offer adequate insulation?

Bloody hell, just realised even 16mm is gonna come to £300 to cover the whole pond. That's a lot considering 200 metres of bubble wrap did the job last year for £21

Havent coverd mine to be fair am just going off what I understand about it as its wind chill that cools the water more I would have thought even 8 or 10mm would work and as you say your frame can hold any thing so dont have to worry about that . Need to cover this year but who knows what or how . Stuffyrat had the best idea of going on ebay and places like that and they are people who want the conservatorys taking down . You might pay them 100 quid or less but can sell the windows and doors and make a tidy profit and free polycarb Haha

I havent even given it a thought and 2 seconds later Steve had sent 2 or 3 links over . Like any thing I can flip for a profit and getting free stuff at the same time bonus Haha. Use the windows and roof on pond but put the handles on the outside open and feed fish jobs done Haha

Think I told you before about the garage floor tiles I wanted.
Brand new would have cost £1650
Searched on eBay for used ones every week for about 6 months.
Then a bulk lot came up having been used once for London fashion week with bidding from £600 and I was the only bidder.
Was going to pick them up across multiple runs by car but the bloke said it was a whole articulated lorry full! He agreed to deliver for £50.
Couldn't fit them straight away as they filled my garage up end to end standing 6 foot high. Took almost 2 hours to unload them.
Sold them off dirt cheap on a car forum, had about 10 people come round to collect over a 2 week period.
Ended up making £2200 ish profit with enough left over to do the whole garage and shed!
One of the best profits I ever made so quickly.

HI Mark,
A lot of folk with conservatorys are replacing the polycarbonate roofs with solid tiled ones,if you Google in your area for companys who do this and contact them you can get the old poly roofs free.
Or go to local PVC windows and conservatory suppliers they usually have some second hand, this is if you dont mind second hand.John

I bought mine mine from Nick Gray a few years ago, he has since passed away and his remaining family closed the business.
Along both top and bottom edge was an over lap of around 10mm, as I fitted it, the end sheet I removed the over lap both top and bottom with a stanly knife, the other edge I just cut the top off leaving the bottom, next sheet cut the bottom overlap off, leaving the top, lay that sheet on top of the over lap of the first sheet and the top overlap provides the seal. Your not looking for air tight, you need to allow the pond to gas off.

Have just bought a second hand conservatory to convert into a filter house for my new drum filter but it was an apex glass roof which I cant use due to height restrictions hence my requirement for some polycarb for the new roof.
Sad to hear about Nick Gray.
As for the other posts don't forget that if laying the sheets flat any sag will collect water which on thinner sheets would then sag even more.
