Thoughts on ‘Dipping’ Koi fry in FMC/Methyl
Hello,
I have ordered some great fry for next year. They’re more expensive than previous so I am taking precautions.
I have got fry from 2 farms to have a better mix of koi. The setup will be the same as last year and pressure washed, dried, left then allowed to dry out. The new water will be cycled as required.
Long story short - To prevent cross contamination, and contaminating the setup, I would like to ‘dip’ the koi in FMC/ Methyl blue in order to introduce them disease free. I have heard about others using this practice.
Would you recommend dipping them in this way. If so what ratio do you use, FYI I have a 10l tank for ‘dipping’.
Thanks in advance.

Interested in your source of this protocol?
If there were a simple dip solution to achieve clean fish then I suspect it would be widely acknowledged? Personally I am not a fan of dips and for sure with anything other than salt you have to push things close to the limit to make much impact.. For fry I wouldn't be looking to do more than get them in some decent water of similar ish temps to that they have been transported in as speedily as possible after arrival.
Every day feeding container?
Good shout, I'll have a look at Takazumi :)
