is this the right kind of weed ??
Good morning all,
I knew I had some weed growth but it was not until last night under some coloured spot lights that I could see / really notice the weed that has grown on the sides of the pond, the artificial light aided me to take some pictures to view as attached, now my weed "experience" is low so I ask in anticipation is this the good velvet weed or a bad weed growth? phosphates are 2 out of the tap and remain at 2 in the pond, the walls are definitely getting a good coverage now as is the bottom.... what do you think ? the fish certainly like munching on it....
Pic 3 shows my temporary fish jumping mats, as you know we lost a lovely Purachina and nearly another so have these rubber children play mats running from wide side of the pond to the other with 2 x 2m long spirit levels running along and over the glass as weights, the flap at the front is actually suspended over the water by a good ft from the glass edge so any fish jumping will flex the mat edge and plop back in, judging by the water we sometimes see on the matting it looks like fish are still jumping very close the to the edge so until I can think of something a little more pretty this will do for the time being..... Steve.

Hi Steve. That looks like a normal part of the maturing process to me mate.
If you are about at the weekend I will try to pop over for a little looksy at your pond mate. Seen the pictures and it looks great but always better in person

Looks just like the weed that's all around the walls and base of my pond. And my Koi love munching on it as well. Especially while I am not feeding (water issue) they have taken a real shine to it and nearly cleared the lot!!
I'm now thinking this is nice & easy way to clear the pond walls and floor every now and again.
