The ones I’ve caught in France were dim. I caught the same fish at least 3 times....in one day lol.
I was thinking to myself, how many of these buggers are 37lb until I checked the photos.
They have fins that are rock hard and wipe all your lines out and they’ll eat literally anything.
The tame ones are pretty cool though I must admit. Guessing they’re pretty good “pond hoovers”?

I too am being nagged for Sturgeon - my 12 year old son though. Am managing to hold off by saying filters still maturing!
I will get a couple though - 10,000 gallon pond so big enough me thinks (for a while anyway!)
12 Koi and 2 Sturgeon and that will be me done!

Yeah... they are the smaller of the breads.. and slightly slower growing i believe.. but still get to 1metres. so im guessing thats why people are put off...
hes done a great job at the minute of disturbing all the crap at the bottom.... this is helping the flow into bottom drain... never seen the bottom so clean.....
And the koi are nor bothered by him one bit...
so far so good..

Depends what your waters like for them, I live in a hard water area and they just look a mess after a couple of years.
Soft water they seem to do well.
I do like them though or asahi.

Running heater at low temp?
Covering the pond with polycarb should be enough to stop water temps dipping below 6C for the most...
