if thats the case then great. i could sit one of these perfectly level on the ground in my multi-bay area ( not in the sump pit)
the waste pipe is 2 m before it has to go vertical before in goes under the lawn ( my pond is ground level so the filter area is under the decking). I think then this would prevent the perpetual backwash?
thanks again --- these replies have really changed the way I have been looking at this.

Sorry for the late reply I didn't get home till gone 10 last night.
That looks more substantial than the one I got so good luck with it. If they did a 40mm version I would get one too

Frim,
Had mine delivered today. There already is an NRV in one of the white connections, but if you do the jubilee clip up too tight it doesn't work.

I'm pretty sure mine didn't have an NRV in either of the two white connectors but I thought there was a flap thing attached to the top inlet but I thought that opened inwards I will have a look later as getting the lid off is a bit of a bugger and I want to fit a big jubilee clip on the lid to make it seal better as I think one of the clips isn't fitting properly but then again I think there is a hole in the top of the lid anyway just above the outlet?

The lid doesn't seal particularly well when you've got the weight of 500 litres behind it from the Nexus.
There is a flap that prevents back flow but it doesn't close properly if you push the pipe fully home on the outlet and do the jubilee clip up too tight.
There's a hole in the top of the lid but that seals quite well by itself when the unit is full.
Discovered today that the motor overheats and shuts off if you try and do a full water change through the unit. Its fine for the first 350 or so litres but after that it cuts out and back in again every 100 litres or so.

I will have to have another look at the outlet fitting then as I am fairly sure there wasn't an NRV on mine but at the time of fitting I didn't know to look for one.

Same here, did something pretty silly as it happens.
Test fitted all the pipes and was happy so put it in the filter pit and tightened everything up and it didn't work.
Scratching my head for ages, had the thing in bits, stuck a plug on it so I could try and figure out the problem without traipsing in and out of the filter pit.
Still nothing.
Removed all the pipes from it ready to box it up and send back, then realised I'd not cut the blanking plug off the inlet pipe lol. No wonder it was bone dry inside ha ha.
