    Evolution Aqua start up gel

I am using this everyday to help with bacteria for filters for maturity but have noticed this week and especially today it upset the fish making them race around and flash a bit? Anyone else experienced this thanks Steve

EA sent me 5 litres of this stuff for free, around £90 worth. (Long story). Nitrites were reading 2 mg/l when I received it.

I used the whole lot over a period of around a Month and by the end of it nitrites were still reading 2 mg/l.

From what I can make out it did nothing for nitrites.

No idea if it could help with ammonia as my ammonia readings were fine before I started using it.

To sort out nitrites I had to fishless cycle a load of media using household ammonia and then add it to the filter.

A slight tangent i know but, have always struggled with nitrite problems while not using dechlorinater. Purchased from Coastal at National show 2ft cylinder type fitted same night and now nitrite test barely changing colour a trace at tops. Just saying even a slow trickle in out has to be pure or suspect will kill off good denitrifying bacteria. Did also chuck EA bomb in bio chamber and have had a couple of fish jump but hopefully no issues Many thanks Dean.
