Anyone with Exerience of EA Nexus Automatic System?

Can anyone please give some knowledgeable facts/opinions on the Evolution Aqua Nexus Gravity Automated Systems?

I am enquiring for someone else.

Am fully aware that Drums etc would be better, but due to budgets and the Nexus 320 already being in place....this is the option being considered.

    Thanks All!

You wonít upset anyone chap I donít believe anyone posting on here has any business connections with Draco or anyone else as it happens.
Out of interest, is there any reason (that your comfortable discussing) why not apart from cost?
It might help others in a similar predicament. Iím not personally aux fait with a Nexus so canít help regarding the automation side of things.

The Automated System will use a lot of water when it cleans, you will really need an auto top up installed if you haven’t already. Lot of money from what it is.

I've looked at the build quality and heard enough from reliable sources to make it not the option I am happy to recommend to a customer. Plus having the unit stuck up on top like a sore thumb is an eyesore in the customers opinion.
At least with the EA option there comes a simple and larger support network should a problem arise.

Dont include EA in the support network, they don’t have the best customer service, it goes along the line, let’s put the product out and let the customer do the testing.

I'm happy with mine. Yes, it does use a lot of water, but I have an auto topup, so essentially maintenance free. I haven't had any issues with customer service. When I received it, the drain valve would not close fully, but after a few emails with their support guy, we had it solved.

It can make the fines issue worse however if you clean it too often. I had it cleaning once a day and the inner K1 was spotless, but the fines were bad. If I leave it for 3 days between cleaning, the inner K1 traps more dirt and takes more of the fines out.

    Just my 2p worth.

I am with you on that. Worst I have dealt with. And the most expensive for parts

I personally find EA's support complex and so defensive of their products you feel like you are being blamed. In fact they told me to take issues up with the business who sold it to me rather than direct with themselves (so this potentially puts you in a situation if you're trade), the business concerned then sent me back to EA.

Anyway, that doesn't answer your question.

The EA auto clean function does what it says on the tin, albeit an expensive tin.

Koi Water Barn use them on every tank both in showroom and quarantine facility. Pretty sure I've seen other Dealers using them too. On that basis the product is fine, but possibly not what the average hobbyist will buy due to the volume of water that goes to waste and the fines issues.

There was a thread on here last week, member has a leak from his Nexus, the rubber connector from the Nexus to waste had failed, no one at EA could tell him what size the connector was.

My own issues involved the inlet of the Nexus cracking across the top, all EA wanted to do was say it was poor installation, anyone you knows the underside of the Nexus will know there are points of contact with the floor, it is fully supported at these points, EA rewrote the installation instructions a few years back saying the complete Nexus should be on a totally flat floor. I know of 6 Nexus filters which are all supported on blocks at the contact points for over fifteen years with no issues. The first question they asked was for a picture of the base, then blames the installation. How can it be supported if it cannot contact a perfectly flat floor.

Second issue, it is documented on here, when EA discontinued the 110, 55 and 30 UV’s with the new modern looking ones, I purchased one to replace the 110, the flow rate was abysmal, put your fingers in the inlet, the water has to enter the UV and immediately turn 90 degrees, then another 90, followed by two more 90’s as it leaves the UV. I returned mine to the dealer, he also set it up and found the same, he mentioned it to the EA rep, he gave a cock and bull line saying the flow wasn’t impeded much at all, but had to be impeded to increase the dwell time in the UV, guess what, the following year they were modified and the one with a lamp about a metre long was discontinued to be replaced with a new 110 similar to the TMC Proline.
