Advice on hose for top up system

I have a standard garden hose connected between a water meter and a dechlorinator unit and it looks like it is starting to expand with the water pressure so now turn the tap off once the pond has filled up. I used to leave it open so it was at the correct flow rate each time I required it to top up the pond. Is there a stronger hose that will fit a Hozelock fitting so I can set the flow rate and forget about it?

I use MDPE water pipe to mine. It can be connected to all types of fitting with adapters on the end. Its main disadvantage is it is not very flexible so if you need it to go round bends you need to use elbows.

I use MDPE as well. The Push fit type fittings are very good and easy to use.

Looks like I need get a photo of the set up and maybe that will help with a few options or required fittings etc?

Yes. It is easy to plumb - requires no plumbing skills, which is just as well for me!. Does depend a bit on you being super neat and tidy with pipe cuts fitting the pipe inserts well, and not doing things too short when you need to butt fittings up against each other. I have run the stuff throughout our garden for both the Koi pond and outlets for watering systems, including about 10 outside taps and a couple of isolation valves.

    Nice one lol

I'm a bit of an expert at screwing things together as you will know by the amount of flexi rubber boot fittings on my QT build lol I think there must be a world shortage of them at the moment as I have them all in my garage now

Why not use 15mm speed fit?

plastic pipe is designed to be used inside or for the mdpe buried under ground, if exposed to UV light they will deteriorate over time, causing premature failure so a cover sleeve insulation etc is a good idea

I have got 15mm speed fit from the filter to the pond so was going to use the same from the meter to the filter but it would need some bends but not sure if it's possible to attach it using something similar to the Hozelock fitting as I sometimes use hose straight off the meter to top up the pond using ST or similar.

Yeah. the MDPE is the blue water pipe. It is bloody tough stuff, very unlikely to split if frozen and whilst maybe it could eventually age in UV I think it would take a very long time to do that!

Personally I would avoid hoselock fittings altogether and use the mdpe BSP screw fittings on both ends. Dechlorinator units always have a screw thread even iftheere is a hoselock thingy screwed to it when you get it. I use ends that screw straight onto the 3/4" outside tap fitting for mine. There is then nothing that could become accidentally disconnected or start leaking like the hozelock stuff is prone to do.

    Morning Fred.

    Morning all

What I would like to do is have the option to have the filter connected and also a hose connected so either need a T or a Y fitted on the outlet of the meter or something similar to what I have got at the moment so I can swap back and forth as required.

The main reason i went for hard plumbing
Was that our lasses summer house
    Hot tub
I did nt trust her with the hose side of things. While having a few beers lol.
With all the electrics. So decided that hard piping was safer.
So then decided to go via filter house. To shed qt. To summer house.
If it was not for that. I would have stayed with the hose.
On my old pond thats all i used for 20 years
