    Hoselock hose fittings

Anyone use these on purifier I’ve an auto top up on my pond and the hoselock snap on connector just won’t stop leaking I’ve tried new fittings still leaks just wondering what other people use to pipe onto purifier and auto topup zone valve my zone valves screwed into purifier inlet that sides fine just the other side where hoselock quick push connector clicks on leaks wonder if it’s worth using one inch pressure pipe I have fittings to do it just wondered if anybody’s already done this from tap to oase valve on purifier inlet

I’ve just bought a Vyair purifier and used the connectors that came with it but used ptfe tape as always when making water connections. I added a water meter on the outfeed and an old Hozelok connector for the pipe into the pond. Wind the tape in the direction of the thread.

use the tape or it could be the connector is shot, or Chinese copy. Also make sure the pipe hasn’t pressed the “claws” inwards and is pushed snug up to the connector.

    hoping that helps.

I’ll check to see if I have some spare black rubber rings in my toolkit.

They always seem to leak I think also if on a trickle in they are more likely to leak as there isn't much pressure against the fitting.
I have swapped out the rubber gasket but it doesn't seem to fix the problem.

I have a box of O-rings which I use for my general diy projects. If the new fitting doesn’t work, pm me your address and I’ll pop some in the post. Otherwise you’d be better hard fixing some water connections to the unit.

Just buy some O rings, try a thicker ring or better still buy a brass adapter, I've changed all my adapters to brass on my expandable hoses, works a treat for me and using them at least times a week.

    Mine leaked too.

But I have a whole box of hozelock connections and just tried different ones until eventually one didn't leak.

But if you have water constantly switched on and therefore constant pressure on the fittings I'd be inclined to use something other than hozelock connections.

Probably a better solution than this is available but first thoughts are something like a JG Speedfit connector screwed over the purifier outlet (in place of that male hose connector), then a short piece of 15mm copper pipe sticking out of the connector, then your hose pipe jubilee clipped over the copper pipe.

Another option could be to use the brass hose fittings. I have those attaching my secondary water meter and they don't leak under mains pressure.

Sorted new fittings fitted and thicker washer I found in shed and it’s stopped leaking it was filling a gallon bucket a day so was quite a drip I’ve got the threaded adaptors and one inch pipe bends and valves so I’m gunna have a go doing it in that pipe I think when I’m well enough

Dave, I had the same problem with my top up system. I had the hozelock fitting blow off the inlet fitting over night. Came down in the morning to feed the fish and wondered what the noise was and then found the hose laying on the slabs After trying a few different fittings and in the end just put the hose straight onto the male hose connector and used a jubilee clip to hold it on. Worked a treat. I have a JG speed fit 15mm connected to the outlet of the the water purifier via various adapters and reducers.
