Goldfish took a trip down bottom drain

so i am currently not far off pond completion.... i am currently cycling filter.... still a bit of ammo present.. waiting for the nitrate to creep in..

anyhows there is a point to this story..
I currently have 3 small goldfish approx 3" in size helping to cycle the pond.

well yesterday i was showing off the filters to a friend and as i raised the top of the nexus i could see a goldfish in centre section of nexus... so he must have been too inquisitive around Bottom drain and took the log flume to nexusland.

well the depth of my bd dome is 15mm...so he must have really been snooping around.

anyhows as soon as the lid opened he darted and hid under the filth in filter..

so i tried to net him to no avail and in the end i thought well i am going to have to strip the inner chamber out.
Now not being overly familiar with the layout of my new nexus i dismantled and removed all the k1 media... took me hours and could not find the little beggar... so i thought has he made his way some how miraculously to the outer chamber.. remember i am not familiar 100% with the nexus layout at this point.... so i drained the inner chamber to the bottom and bravo.. there he wasn't...

so im frantically looking down bottom drain... scooping around outer chamber.. checking the nexus entry canal.... and then it dawned on me.... could i have sent him to waste through 2 inch pipe and around the roots of my magnolia tree... so i looked from afar at the tree and i could see what looked like a toffee crisp wrapper shimmering in the light .. but not moving..

my heart sunk... please no... dont tell me it was a goldfish... as i went closer.. I realise i had in fact sent him on another log flume trip through the waste. and into the bushes near the magnolia...

i picked him up. and he was not moving.... i felt so bad....blaming myself or was it his fault for being so nosey.... i genuinely was gutted.... i know its only a goldfish but the kids named him and everything...

anyway.. i thought lets just dip him in pond because it could not have been out for more than 15minutes...

and before my very eyes a miracle happened and he started swimming....i was chuffed to bits....

its day 2 since nexusgate... and he is still alive... he is my new favourite regardless of what koi i get in the future...

only problem is the 2 other golsfish are now harrasing him.. and he had only been missing for 15minutes...

but im keeping my fingers crossed he will survive.. i believe they are doing it because he had a few scratches etc and its within their interests to fend off other injured fish...

    fingers crossed

Great story Binary, and well told.

I can just picture your mate turning round and looking at you as you spot the goldfish, thinking to himself, does he know what he's doing?

ha.. ha... yeah... i know hes no expert but im sure he was thinking that golsfish arent meant to be in filterhouses..

for the record... the same fish done it again yesterday..... he is an absolute numpty...

this time i drained him straight to a bucket and back in pond..... im sure he is enjoying this..
