fast water filter
Hi everyone
As some of you may know from my previous posts construction of the Mark IV starts on may 19th.
just getting last of materials together before we demolish the old pond and begin .
Im looking for a water filter for removing impurities but so far can only find filters that work at 5 litres per minute.
Anyone know any faster ones?
thanks
Jim
Ps yes I will put pics up on the forum ha ha ha

The faster you put water through the more chance there is of chlorine getting through. I use one of them myself but i also use sodium thiosulphate to rid chlorine....andi

Been researching purifiers for ages.... Still totally lost on what to buy, or even if its worth having one.
I've posted before about how I don't understand the differences between the different ones and why the prices vary so hugely.
Loads of purifiers on here, but again, there's not much about flow rates except on the really expensive ones:
Water Purifiers - Absolute Koi
And Vyair seem to be the main supplier of purifiers that aren't branded by the big names:

That 20" one Andi, is there a facility to put hozelock fittings on?

Thanks Rs
just thought for 60 quid and thio on top could be a good thing. i emailed the bloke and he said 8 litres a min flow rate which is not too bad. Can do hoselock fittings too
Jim
Ps thanks for the pump advice the other week. Ordered 2 vary pups. Can up my flow by 4k on each whilst saving 30 watts each. that and my new air pump i can up everything yet be 80 watts down from current levels.Last edited by JimJones; 02-05-2019 at 05:01 PM. If I am reading the flow rates on these correctly and they are true figures then these are worth a look I recon -
Dechlorinator Units - Water Purifiers - Absolute Koi

I was looking at those Frim, but it doesn't say what exactly they remove.
They appear to remove more than just chlorine but it doesn't say exactly what, and at £220 I want to know the ins and outs, otherwise I'll stick to ST crystals for a fiver every 2 years.
That's the kind of problem I'm finding with these purifiers, identical looking units from different sellers with different lists of what they remove.
Could be a gap in the market for someone that wants to sell these if you can provide all the proper details.

Don't bother, that is what I got instead of a Vyair one. Big mistake all the fittings are over sized compared to the Vyair ones. Plus it has a leak on all 3 cannisters. Will go back to Vyair next time I need to replace this one. Why it was supplied with 3/4" fittings and not 1/2" fittings when they supply the smallest diameter pipes that would fit inside the air line on a Nexus or an Eazy Pod

Just realised the flow rate is in LPH not LPM as the other filters are quoting LPM flow rates so 180 LPH is only 3 LPM 300 LPH is only 5 LPM and 600 LPH is only 10 LPM
So with the smallest filter being £175 and to only get a flow rate of 3 LPM for the same money you could get 3 Vyair 10" 3 canister filters connect them in parallel with each other and have a flow rate or about 5 LPM using their standard filters and still have change from £175 I would think or could go for 2 and fit the uprated filters and get the same 5 LPM flow rate again if connected in parallel. Not sure if the 20" filters from Vyair have any better flow rate or just a longer life span?

I bought the vyair 10” 3 pod with the flow meter, been good so far apart from the white outlet valve supplied leaked like a sieve but was easily rectified with a solid brass ball valve from toolstation for a couple of quid
