Maybe it is just working and the flukes are being killed off, irritating the koi, give it time Fred.
I had that last weekend, koi jumping so thought critters, scrapes four and only found 2 tric, checked water, which I should have done first, zero kh,fixed that with bicarb and then found chlorine in water,in went s/t and been fine since.
Think i have been slacking in my pond maintenance Fred.John

To be fair mate. You have been kind of busy mate. So it is allowed now and again. Especially when the benefits are for the fish themselfs.
Just done all my water tests. Pond and qt grow on. All is fine. This CT and fluke m. Does not knock the filters. So it says on the packet.
They have stopped flashing now.
So like you say. Maybe its because of zapping the critters.
Plus i put a bit more in the pond then i should of.
The kusuri fluke m you get 2x satchets.
1 satchet treats 5,500 gallons. My pond is 5000 gallons. So i started to weight it out on the scales. Then thought f___ this. The full satchets going in. Haha. Everythings good though. The fish are looking great.
Plus i think my drum is slowly diluting it down lol.

Yes that's the same type.
Has to be better than a TDS meter.
How accurate are are they for £20, £40 ???
If I was doing a dip bath I would still measure the quantities, aswell for salting the pond calculate the amounts.
I got the pen to be able to monitor the decrease as the water got changed and the salt diluted out, it works for me.

That's what I wanted one for,to measure the decrease of salt in a q/t till it has near enough gone.
Do you think that last one would be ok for that Simon?John

Should be ok. As a guide.
Out of interest I tested my tap water it was showing as about 0.01% either there are salts in the tap water or there's a level of inaccuracy or reading other things as salt??
I will see what reading I get on 0ppm pure water when I get round to it.Last edited by Simon Fish; 19-05-2019 at 09:13 PM. Reason: Decimal point in wrong place

The TDS meter will only tell you that you have dissolved solids in the water or basically the concentration of dissolved solid particles in the water, tap water will have these in abundance, only RO DI water will be zero or as close to it as possible
For salinity you are best off with a refractometer we use the D&D one, they are very good, I wouldn't go for digital if it was me, all the people I know with marine tanks use them4600 Gallon Concrete Block and Fiberglass
2100 mm x 710 mm Infinity Window 32mm thick glass
2 x Aerated Bottom Drains and Skimmer
Filtreau HiFlow 30 Drum Filter
Bio Chamber - 140 litres K1
Bakki Shower - 30 KG Sakura Far Infrared Media
2 x 18,000 lh pumps
Heated from house boiler through a heat exchanger

Got round to testing the salinity pen in pure water today
(0ppm, deionised) reading was 0.00 so happy with the pen it gives an instant guide that's reasonably accurate.
Noticed the mistake on the previous post, decimal point in the wrong place. Should be 0.01% that's the downside of reading in ppt you forget to move the point!Last edited by Simon Fish; 19-05-2019 at 09:12 PM.
