    Pond spring upgrade

    Hi all.

I am Planning to do some work on the pond. I have attached a few pictures of the current state of affairs and I would like some advice and tips on what I could do to upgrade or make it better for my Koi. I have had a slow leak over the winter but not sure if it’s the pipework, filter or pond itself.

Firstly I would like to treat the sides, I have seen rubber paint as an option but maybe fibreglass would be better ? Not only do I suspect it’s leaking but a less porous surface would prevent algae build up within the walls as pictured.

Secondly I would like some pointers on the hardware. Currently running a pressured filter which to be honest seems to do a good job, it has handled winter leaf matter and kept the water crystal clear. I will be increasing the night of the manifolds where the pump leaves the pond wall and the air line enters the pond. The reason behind this is that they’re a suspect in the leaking area and positioning them higher will result in less water pressure to make its way out of the pond, or at least make it identifiable as the lines exit the pond at ground level.

All advice welcome. Thanks and Happy Easter !

Are you putting a db in mate . If not wanting to take that much work on as you already have a pipe though wall a retro db could still gravity which dose a lot better job at removing waste than a drop in pump

I think AJM means “BD”, ie, a bottom drain

Hi. Just so you're aware, smoother sides will not reduce algae. It grows on my fibreglass and window. I'd defo go fibreglass if within budget.

Can you draw a little diagram with dimensions, depths and location of pipework etc?
Take a photo of your drawing and upload it, tapatalk app is great for this.
