Jubilee clips
Hi all, been having a problem with these clips on rubber boots not tightening up and jumping the cog so to speak.
Got some new clips which are ok but can the faulty ones be fixed at all?
Now they are mostly e/a ones but cant be bothered complaining to them.
Tried tapping the worm part tighter but didn't make any difference.
Any ideas folks?

If they are “Jubilee” clips they will be fine, there are tons of rip off copies & they are generally rubbish.
As a retired Aerospace Engineer I have personally used Jubilee clips up to well over a thousand (1,000) PSIG, on hydraulic & hydrostatic systems.
If it doesn’t say “Jubilee” on the clip then it’s a rip off copy?
I know people use the word Jubilee as a generic name for these type of clips. The sales pitch from Jubilee is :-
“ Never a drip from a Jubilee clip” ?
Don’t but rip off copies!! Buy the real thing is my advice.

Learned something new today.... Used these for many years but didn't realise Jubilee was the actual patented manufacturer name and assumed they were all generic.
I will only buy the genuine product from now on, good that its manufactured here in blighty too.

if using a Jubilee clip inside your pond, always cover it with isolation tape to stop your koi rubbing or catching themselves on it

You're the second person to mention that Andy, good advice
When you use insulation tape don't just wrap it round, it's best to try to stretch it slightly as you wrap it round makes it stick better so my old boss reckoned. Also if you are using it when the weather is cold stick it in your trouser pocket for a while before using it. It will warm it up and make it easier to work with.

I'm not sure you can fix them John as the way things are made now it is cheaper to just buy a new one unfortunately.

doubt they can be fixed john, the issue is they dont make the wormgear part tight enough onto screw thread, you could try knocking this bit tighter to close the gap,but EA have been using the crappy clips for years, the amount of people that used to complain about the boot coming off the cetus sieve inlet because it needed a ridge for the clamp to grip behind and they did nothing plus cheap clips that loosened,im surprised no one sued for not being fit for purpose lol,,,,andi

You can buy replacement jubilee clips from screwfix so I am guessing toolstation sell them too. If not ebay sell the genuine Jubilee clips
