Thought he was dead this morning. On bottom tilted over, no sign of movement and no Gill movement. Threw food in for the others, and after a few minutes he came up and took a couple of pellets.
I was right about the fungus susceptibility, his entire body is covered already. Have no useable QT set up and catching him could be the last straw, so will treat a mild dose of Malachite green to whole pond tonight.

Cheers fellas.
Most expensive fish I've ever bought as well....
Cos I felt confident enough to care for it properly.
If it can just survive another day or 2 I'm sure it can recover. Probably best that I'm not home today, I'd only be watching it and feeling helpless.

It's gutting and you feel bad about it but don't beat yourself up. You clearly have the capabilities of caring for fish of any price. Accidents happen.
I had an accident early on in koi keeping. Cage came off a submerged pump and I recently purchased two purachina koi. One was stuck to side of pump and I lost it. I was devastated. Chris Masters told me to "wise up and get over it we have all lost koi by accident" lol
Best of luck with the recovery.

Hope it picks up rs it devastating loosing any fish let alone an expensive one, it's not lack of knowledge or trying with best intentions , it's just something that comes with keeping koi , I hardly ever loose an average fish it's always one of my favourite ones, fingers crossed you get a break and it gets on the mend

Just got home, thought he was dead again, had to watch for a few minutes then saw his eyes move.
Put food in and after it had all gone he came up looking for some, so I put extra in and he took 5 or 6 pellets.
He's not swimming straight, tail rising up and head down, noticed this before the 2nd jump so could have been caused by the first jump, or just the fact he's clamped up and swimming with his body rather than fins.
Totally covered in fungus now so I'm dosing a mild MG dose to the whole pond so as not to stress him more by moving him.

I have seen this happen before in a fish that rattled the side of a pond, bruised its swim bladder. This left the fish unable the steady itself and swim properly but it recovered in a few days.
I do hope it sorts itself out for you bud.Built not bought!

That sounds positive Dave, Hope you're right, he doesn't float up when sitting on bottom clamped up so that's a good sign. Mind you, just staying alive would be the best thing for the time being.

That's a bummer RS, thought he or she would have learnt its lesson the first
time around must be a ''glutton for punishment '' .
Hope it makes it ok for you

I hope he bounces back for you mate I really do. The only downside to the hobby.
At least he is wanting to eat, hopefully just a bit battered and bruised and feeling sorry for himself. We are the same. Get a little stressed and run down then you are susceptible to everything.

Had to take about 20 pics to get these, all the greedy gits in the pond thinking I had food and getting in the way!
There's Malachite Green in the pond hence the water colour.... currently being diluted by a mega hail storm that's caused pond to overflow.
You might be able to just about make out the thin patches of fungus all over his body. Clamped up as tight as can be. Hardly breathing and breathing very shallow....hopefully that at least means there's plenty of oxygen in the water.

Zoom in and you can make out the fungus protruding over the white parts before the tail on left side of photo, but it is all over his body, hard to see in photo as he's 4 foot down!

Still alive.... Took 30 mins to find him, no idea where he was but I even checked the Nexus. Same as yesterday, bottom sitting, still clamped most of the time but not as much - the pectoral fins were sticking out some of the time.
Fungus hasn't got worse, possibly looks better since adding MG which seems to have slightly stained the fungus, has stringy white poo coming out (no brown in it whatsoever - but his poo was definitely brown before the jump), now showing signs of fin rot as well.
Been 20+ years since I last saw fin rot, can't remember if it will fix by itself, pretty sure I've seen recoveries without adding medication, can't do anything anyway with MG already in the water, so still watching and hoping.
Tonight will be 3 days post jump, if he makes it through till tomorrow evening then I think the rest of his recovery will be determined by the decisions I make and treatment actions I take. White poo is a bit of a concern as there's little I can do about that.

4 full days since he jumped.
Still sitting on bottom, not moving, haven't been able to entice him with food since Friday evening. No signs of breathing or gill movement but if you watch for long enough you can see his eyes move. Still clamped but at least he's upright and not on his side.
Visible injuries are just scrapes, scuffs and small cuts, no major wounds or anything.
Not sure what to do other than keep waiting.
Temp is ok at 17.5C
Fungus appears to have retreated, but still signs of fin rot which is least of my worries.
Tempting to put a net in just to see if he reacts, but don't want to add to his stress. Thought he'd have perked up a bit by now.

If he pulls through I'm gonna have to name him and he's gotta be a keeper no matter how ugly he turns out!
Not experienced a fish on the bottom not moving for so long. He's only moved about 3 feet since 8am this morning.
Don't think there's anything I can do other than stay on top of parameters and leave him be.
