Fishless cycling question
Hi Do I have to add ammonia dose everyday or can I add some 5 ppm and wait until it redeces to say 2 ppm to add again? Many thanks.

There isn't a definite answer, different people have different ideas so I approached the subject from a scientific basis and recorded a method that seems to give the best results with the minimum of buggering about. Read my explanation of fishless cycling and how to do it here:

best to keep it at 2ppm, so dose accordingly, too much ammonia will stall the cycle. The other benefit is you get a real sense of how the cycle is progressing, sure you get through more test reagent, but if that's a worry, then running a pond is probably not for you

Hi bis,
If fishless cycling a pond you can't go far wrong with what bowsaw said above. Going to 5ppm could cause issues with the nitrite levels and stall the cycle.
When I fishless cycled media in a large 70 litre bucket I originally tried to maintain 2ppm but after a week or so it got consumed so fast I upped it to 5ppm and was dosing twice a day initially and then up to 4 times per day, but had to do 2x 50% water changes per day to keep the nitrites below 6ppm and getting nitrites down was the longest part of the cycle.
