Shame you all live miles away as I'd be up for it as well.

Thanks Jonathan.
The darker ones that Freddy preferred actually looked more impressive in the flesh but the Dealer said they were almost finished whereas mine still has some development to go, especially with regards to the black reticulation on the scales and I think I believe him as it is already darker than the dealer photo I purchased it from which was no.2 in the left pic:
Kirin.jpg
By the time we got home the water in the bag was almost 3 degrees higher than the pond and the PH was only 6.5 compared to my 8.2.
Never bought a fish with such a large PH swing before and didn't really know how best to manage it so I added 1 litre of my pond water into the bag every 10 mins for an hour or so before emptying the bag into a bowl of pond water creating a 75 / 25 mix of the 2, then just kept taking a litre out of the bowl and swapping for a litre from the pond for 10 mins or so before releasing the fish.
The Kirin measured in at 24cm so a little larger than in the advert photo.

Dare I ask the price?John

Thanks all for the kind comments. A purchase always feels even better when everyone else likes the Koi too
The Kirin is very lively and brimming with energy this morning, think it will become a prominent personality in the pond.
As for price John, not sure if it was mistakenly overpriced or purposely as all the bowls of Kirin were marked up as £150 and the bowl with mine at £195 and when I mentioned this they removed the bowl with mine from the website. Nonetheless I wanted it more than any of the others so just committed to paying up. Sellers in Europe have them for sale for up to 1200 euros (40cm).
All the Kirin looked better in flesh than on the website and I'd say they've all put on 2 or 3 cm since the photos and still some available for anyone who wants one.
A rare beast, only 100 or so were released for sale this year and Wada is trying to achieve 200 for next year.

Running heater at low temp?
Covering the pond with polycarb should be enough to stop water temps dipping below 6C for the most...
