KHV ? Protect Yourself » Nishikigoi.Life
if / when I buy fish, it will be from a dealer who heat ramps, and that would be Gary at Gatwick koi, anything else is just not worth the risk, and imo its worth paying a bit more money, if thats required, just for the peace of mind.

And Mike Snaden of YumeKoi who I also believe tests for the virus.
Also I understand the heat ramp process needs to take place twice as the virus rarely comes out the first time.
Interesting thing in that article is the mention of Sakai. I was watching a Sakai promotional video where they said they've never had a KHV outbreak because they are unique in that they've never brought in fish from outside, have never allowed their Koi to be exposed to any system outside of their own, and have the highest unmatched standards of Bio Security in the industry. Now I don't know what to believe.Last edited by RS2OOO; 01-01-2019 at 08:47 PM.

The bottom line of it is unless the koi are inside a sealed room everyone is at risk of KHV. It only takes a bird to fly over with wet feet from somewhere with KHV.
I think there are very few dealers who do anything about KHV with regard to blood tests or heat ramping.
