We had a place like that up here closed down now but staff were unfriendly unhelpful just not very nice people until you said you wanted to buy a 2 grand fish then they were like a rash . Went 3 times because it was the only one we knew of around us found the one we go to now and never looked back . Were away at the weekend and got a message saying they had a couple fish they thought we would like and put them to one side until we wanted to go have a look . We got both them that relationship we build over a couple year they know what we want to fish and got it bang on

Disappointed to see Queni comment as was intending to go next Thursday to buy fish for my grow on tank? Too far from Gatwick sadly so they seemed the best destination and still a 2 hour drive. Not ready for Yume fish yet who are local.

I’ve bought fish from them at the Koi Show and been pleased in the past. I’m in the Forest of Dean bear Lydney so quite a trek but thought it’d be worth it. Would have waited for koi show but going on holiday straight after so didn’t want to buy fish then leave them for someone else to keep an eye on

Agree with Andi and have found a few of these Koi places have a bit of a cliquey (sp?) crowd.
I have found service / hospitality to be mediocre at best from some of the big name dealers.
Most of you know the kind of Dealers I've visited and even who I favour for buying Koi, but only 2 places have stood out as being very friendly:
Drew at Koi Waterlife - He will spend hours chatting and answering questions, very nice fella.
And today, Ben at Koi Water Gardens. Before he'd let me take the Kirin away he showed me around the whole facility (it is HUGE), how they extract well water (due to being on a meter), all the filters, all the grow on tanks.... He showed me everything and if it wasn't for the missus wanting to go home I could have stayed there all day. I was very impressed by their bio security which included shoe washes between each building. I reckon there was in excess of 60 ponds / tanks across 3 or 4 greenhouse type buildings, every single one of them jam packed with Koi. They buy a lot of Tosai for themselves to grow on, then sell them on as Nisai or Sansai.
Without naming Dealers, on the negative side:
I've seen big expensive Koi on websites showing as "Sold", but they were never offered for sale anyway, they are just to suck people in.
Multiple email enquiries not replied to, especially when they relate to cheaper fish.
And just travelling a long way to go somewhere but they clearly have no interest in you.
I'm not on facebook but hear a bit about Dealers bitching each other.
Also don't like the fact that you miss out on fish because they put them on fb first where their regulars buy them, then put them on the website after they're sold.
As for Queni Koi, I've never been, but have to say everything I've bought online from them has arrived very fast and very well packaged time after time.

My experience of Queni Koi has been positive - I bought one of their QK15 filters and found them very helpful when I visited. They did all the installation work and set up the filter for me and they did a pretty good job.
I've not bought any fish from them but they appear to have a nice selection (although to be honest most koi look nice to me!).
It is in the sticks though and if you are travelling and want a drink and bite to eat then I'd recommend you go into the village of Anstey (one junction up the A46) where there are several cafes , pubs and a nice bakers.Last edited by deejaysmi; 20-04-2019 at 09:37 PM. Reason: correction

How is the Kirin Rs?
I have never been to Koi water gardens but I have read quite a few of their guides including how to build an indoor pond, and I have been quite impressed with the way they explain things in normal words if you know what I mean.
No pics yet Rs?John

Sorry to hear you were disappointed in Q/k Andi so maybe I will give it a miss.
I have used their food for a few years now and their service is excellent.
Surprised you have never been to Koi Masters near Barnsley Andi,Chris is very down to earth and his knowledge is very hard to beat and the koi are excellent.
I have bought from there for the last two years about this time of year and a total of 13 koi which I have still all got.
One new place in Salford which moved from Blackburn is Spring Bank Koi.,havnt been but it's on my list.John
