Hi All
Soi the fish have been in for 3 1/2 weeks now. Water paramaters over the last few weeks have been stable (ish) as you can see from the graphs below:-
Screenshot 2019-05-21 at 09.25.34.pngScreenshot 2019-05-21 at 09.25.10.pngScreenshot 2019-05-21 at 09.24.01.png
Ammonia drops for a while then creeps up - ha got higher as water temp rises? Filters still maturing I think.
I have a fair bot of algae in the pond and filters (looks like filamentous algae) which I think is the norm for new ponds! My phosphate is high and i think this is all due to the hard water in Essex.
I am now seriously considering 2 expensive additions to the pond (which I have not discussed with 'er indoors yet!) - RO Unit and Heater
RO unit first and have looked at RO-Man systems.
Large pond so large RO unit needed - they do complete setups which is appealing. But Can I manage on 450gpd system which I could run all the time, or a 900-2000gpd system that I just use for water changes as and when?
(I am not on a water meter luckily!)
Any thoughts on parameters and RO size welcome (and anything else) welcome!
Cheers

Hi Mode,
10k gallon, very nice any chance of some pics of the pond ? you have mink nearby, I can see why your going for that gauge mesh....I hope they steer clear from your pond. Steve.

Here are some pics of the pond.
Still some landscaping to do - stones around the edge (some of it is down and I have a grab bag of Scottish cobbles to move!)
Hope they give you the idea - need to get rid of the big conifer and one of the honeysuckles as well to get more veiwing angles.... anyway - hope you like it!

Can’t take credit for much to be honest! Bridge and pond were here when I moved in but it was disused swamp!
Some people think I am mad to keep the pond when 6 yards from it I have this......
Count myself lucky everyday!

Water is now very green and Ammonia rising - currently 0.084ppm. Is a thorough clean . of filter media the answer?

Your pond is pretty new. So as you go along you will get spike rises. In ammonia and nitrite. Then nitrate.
As the pond matures mate. Keep an eye on it.
You should nt have to clean the media in the filters.
Keep doing a 10% water changes and if high no feeding the fish.
Untill it comes down. And feed sparingly.
Use aqua resolve on your weed.
You will go through new pond syndrome for quite a while untill the pond fully matures.
I went 18 months to 2 years.
Before my pond was fully mature.

Running heater at low temp?
Covering the pond with polycarb should be enough to stop water temps dipping below 6C for the most...
