JBR Plastics - Leaky Shower
So my JBR plastics manufactured shower is around a year or so old now, and ive noticed the 'wier' or bottom tray is leaking....
The leaks i'm guessing are in a few places judging from how wet the wood is it sits upon.
This particular shower is on my QT setup, so in an insulated shed with heated water (in winter).
I contacted JBR, and they kindly offered to have it back, test it and re-weld if leaks were detected - which was nice of them - but as we all know, turning off the shower wouldn't really be in my best interests.
They also suggested I go around with some mastic on the welds and fix it myself.
I was kind of hoping that they would send me a new section, as there's not a great deal to them and in my opinion that would have been excellent customer service too & good PR.
I understand that a few others have experienced similar failings recently - did they get theirs resolved?
Also whilst writing can someone post up the link to the fish safe mastic on Ebay which is a fraction of the cost of the 'other stuff' please.
Many thanks
Its a hole in the ground where I throw my money!

Are you sure the weir is leaking or is it simply “splash” from the water coming down the shower!?, I’ve seen this on mine when I had a jbr

You must be unlucky, I've got three JBR showers on my set ups and none drip a drop!

Well I can’t fault jbr they’ve made me loads of stuff I think if you send the part that’s leaking back to them they’ll fix it straight away and you’ll have it back in no time I got a bio from them and I put the inlets top low on a drawing I sent it back to be altered and it was back a day later so don’t think you’d be without the tray for long

I have their skimmer and have had to seal the outlet pipe in due to leaks (it actually came off completely). Obviously this is built in and can't be removed to repair. I am not sure plastic welding is the way to go with pond equipment.

Must admit the so called “welds” you see on plastic welded items don’t actually look that good when you see them, not if your coming at it from a metal welding POV they don’t anyway as it doesn’t actually look like the “ “bead” you get where it’s been welded has penetrated into the surrounding material much - more like it’s sat on top of it, but maybe I’m coming at it from the wrong perspective as I’ve never done any placcy welding so I’ve no idea what really constitutes a “good” plastic weld against a poor one!?
When I upgraded my shower to its current one I payed extra and bought one of the evolve jobbies instead of the jbr ones as I preferred the design of it in several different areas, whether it’ll prove any better I simply don’t know (have heard that the evolve stuff is made by the same folks as those that do the jbr stuff), I guess time will tell, but so far I’ve no complaints.
