Feeding and airpump timer
Hey, can anyone help me with an electrical question.
Can this outdoor push switch be wired into my airpump so when i chuck a handfull of food in the pond and press the push switch the pump comes on and the airstone stops the food being drawn into the skimmer?
Here is the push switch http://cpc.farnell.com/pro-elec/pel0...SABEgLwwvD_BwE

Let me put it this way - if you have a air pump that requires 16 amps it would be capable of inflating a full sized Zeppelin in a few minutes lol most air pumps are tiny that pump is probably an 80 watt which is about the same ampage of a light bulb lol

Are you OK with connecting it?
If not put a link or photo of the connections and I'll help you out with them OK

That's a nice idea, I'll consider that for my build. I currently have a timer which is plugged into a remote control unit so I just switch off the remote when I go out to feed then back on but this is cheaper and simpler.

Just had a quick look at the data sheet for it and it looks simple to connect.
Depending on what cables you are using to connect the switch to a power supply then put the red or brown into the terminal marked live in and the black or blue into the terminal marked neutral.
The flex from the air pump - connect the brown to the terminal marked live out and the blue to the terminal marked neutral which is the same terminal as the black or blue of the supply cable.
I think the switch is what's called double insulated so there is no connection for an earth wire. There may be an earth wire in the supply cable which is either bare copper or green and yellow. if it's bare copper you should put some green and yellow sleeving or tape on it to insulate it and then put it in a connector block. If there is an earth wire on the air pump which there probably will be then connect that to the earth wire of the supply cable.
There is another terminal in there which is marked as trigger. Not sure what that's for unless it's required if you add extra switches. You may find that the switch may come with better information that the data sheet and may explain more about it.
Any problems just ask OK.

Just had a thought, the terminal marked trigger is probably so if it is connected to another one of those devices any of the devices will operate your pump or whatever? If you have got a better set of instructions then the data sheet I saw it may give you a better idea of your connection options.
Did it turn up yesterday BTW ?

Yes it’s all fitted and your connection instructions worked perfectly. The problem is the air bar diffuser I have is only 20cm so there is room around the outside for the food to enter the skimmer. I’m picking up a longer one tomorrow

NIce one. Good to hear it works well for you and hope you get the air bar diffuser issue sorted out.
Have you thought about an air stone or two under the skimmer on the base of the pond?
Any chance of some photos of it please?
