Nice....
So, yesterday quick whizz out to the pond to clean the eazypod on the skimmer line. Main water pump on the Nexus/Draco making an ominous rattling noise. Mmm leave alone or fiddle with it...decisions...so switch off and on a couple times...no change...ok...drain down Nexus and open valve to back flush pump into Nexus...nothing came out..
Switch on..rattle...'kin hell! So disconnect pump, which as usual is in an awkward access point..have a look (its a Blue Eco 500) and 4 bio chips wedged in there..
removed, switch on rattle gone and got higher flow now..god knows how long they've been in there. The Bio chips must off somehow got over the Nexus plate into the outlet chamber through the 2" pipe and in..despite a mesh screen I have..
So bought s heavy drilled Stainless plate now that sits on bottom of Nexus outlet chamber to stop re-occurrence. Deep breath...why do we put ourselves through the stress of keeping koi!

Hmm, wonder if they’d gone through the plate sideways as there quite thin!
That makes me slightly concerned now as I’ve got some bio chips in my 220 at the moment!!

I thought that too..but I've tried quite a few, trying to push through slots and they won't go, diameter too large...but I guess if some are not regular size its possible...or if they warp in the Bio section, they could get through. This plate will stop them going further from now on, as I don't want to take them out of the bio..

Glad to hear you got it sorted out now.
Looked at my pond yesterday and saw 2 or 3 odd shaped bits of K1 floating around. The strange thing was I couldn't tell if they were bits of K1 that had been cut up or squashed flat by something. But they were all still very clean looking bits unlike the rest of the K1 in the Eazy Pod
I did notice the other day the slide valve feeding the Eazy Pod wasn't completely closing so it may have been that that chopped them up and then they got washed through the Eazy Pod? Still don't explain how they were still very clean looking though.

I dont use k1 myself very much but i have got a bag full that was mixed with another bigger media so i sorted it by hand anthe number of small miss cut pieces in the k1 was was qite dramatic and i bet there is a lot of people that have had troubles with small bits getting past the filters and in to the pumps.
