Koi stressed - Could it be lack of food?

A few week back I noticed one of my koi had started developing red skin... it was barely noticeable at that point but, to be safe, I tested all water parameters + scraped the koi and everything seemed fine. I carried out around a 30% water change and stopped feeding all of the koi for around a week to see if the situation with that particular fish improved, however, after a week the fish seemed to have got worse (with more noticeable red skin) rather than better. I had nowhere to keep a quarantine tank at the time (I've since bought one) and as the other koi in the pond looked hungry I decided to resume feeding.... Bizarrely, now I have resumed feeding, the red skin seems to be going away and the koi seems back to normal....

    So my question is.....

I have always been told to stop feeding immediately when there are any signs of problems, but, can koi actually develop red skin due to lack of food? (I may have also spotted it flick a few times)

Lack of food is never a problem with Koi!! It’s to much food that causes problems.

Did the 30% water change have the chlorine removed ??

Yep I've tested for chlorine and that's not the problem
