Some more really good reading and info here guys.
My next question is with the fish getting bigger and with the expense increase how do you maintain that for the fishes lifespan? Or do you not have too? For example a human body builder consumes enormous amounts of food/protein to be huge but once that stops they soon shrink down to a normal human being ha ha. Does this happen with the koi? I understand their frame/length wont shrink but I would fear them going under nourished if i couldnt afford to keep the huge amount of grub in them that they would need. I would love to get one to jumbo but if im been grnuine i dont think it will happen for me now maybe in a good few years if any of them made it more naturally (very unlikely in my pond environment currently). I will be happy with 70’s

Adam, im no expert by far but that chag is bound for jumbo mate 3cm may be hard going now above 80 like some of the more experienced guys have said but what youve achieved with her up to now is very good. I would think she will reach it, may not be quickly but theres alot if years left in her

I've got another promising chag who is only sansai female and 71cm. She spawned this year so is a little on the thin side but should keep growing. All for sale soon.

its amazing how heavy they are isnt it, there were 2 gosanke at bkks that made my biggest chag look like a tiddler,...at the time I estimated they must have been 4 times heavier than my chag, but they were still a great shape, lean and beautiful, but just huge.

Would you feed the same high protein growth food to a 3 or 4 year old large fish,( that your trying to grow even larger), as you would to a young tosai, or are their requirements different ?
and is water temperature simply 24 c for best growth for all fish, for all of the time, or can that differ ?, how much of a winter break should I give tosai that im trying to maximise growth with, or should you skip winter altogether?, and would that be different for an adult fish?
I understand how you can use high temperature and no feeding, to slim down an overweight fish, so then you must be able to influence body shape with a certain temperature, for instance ive seen many fish in unheated ponds that have got quite large girth wise but the length always falls short, and at the opposite end of the scale, fish from really warm water that look like eels.
trouble is in a mixed size pond you cant do best for everyone.

The debate regarding elevated temps 365 days a year is an interesting one. My take is that the fish particularly the females need and benefit from seasonal variations and on the basis that you not only want a jumbo but you want it to stick around in the pond for a good few years as such it is worth sacrificing that possible little bit of extra accelerated growth by giving them a decent winter and spring break.

well none of mine made jumbo last year, but I guess with some luck it could happen this year, ive got 3 almost nudging 80 cm. I know my biggest chag is slowing down now so that wont gain 5cm this year, maybe just 2 or 3 all being well. Ive got one of Adamkoi78s kohakus that I expect to put on a few cm , it was growing well last year, but that would need to gain 6cm, which might be a big ask. I think my biggest hope is my female marudo chag, this will be its 4th growing season and last year it grew 16cm.....so could it put on 5cm this year ?. I guess its hard to say, It might not but im expecting it too in all honesty, ill be a bit disappointed if it doesn't.
I expect to have a few tosai from last year, hit the 70's by season end, which will be some achievement for me I feel.
