Thread: Treat or leave?

    Treat or leave?

So 2 of my fish have injured themselves today(or beaten up whilst feeding by a crazy old koi), it just happened to be 2 nice fish.

1 is a 2 year old doitsu sanke and the other is a tosai matsukawabake.

This isn't my fish but it's exactly the same as what's happened.

Do i need to treat them or just leave them alone?

Its always the nicest one that messes itself up! I currently have the same issue but with the bottom 1/2 of the tail, ive kept an eye on it, the bit that was broken has fallen off, the rest looks ok but i Tamodined it just incase

Hi I would leave it if it was me. I had the same on my grow & show Shiro earlier this year. Left it alone & it's totally healed without intervention. With the temperature up now most knocks & scrapes will heal up just keep an eye on them to make sure it is getting better not worse. I think we are too quick to treat sometimes but mother nature can work wonders given the chance. I'm not saying don't treat just don't rush into it.

    I agree with koinewbie!!

Tempretures are warm and fin damage normally grows back. I have had broken dorsal fins before and they do heel with out intervention.

just make sure your water parameters are all correct as this will assist the healing KH process.

Permameters are all fine. The only problem is my uv broke and had to wait a week for a new ballast, so the water is green. hopefully should clear in a few more days.

I shall just leave alone and observe for a while, they are all eating and swimming fine.

It's the 1st time I've encountered this problem, 2 in 1 day. I would safely say it's my father's old crazy fish. It's about 30 year old but goes nuts like a tosai when feeding, it just pummels everything.

It's funny you should say that as the colours seemed to have improved in the past week with green water. The only food they are getting currently is Aqua source hi growth. Which as far as I'm aware doesn't have any enhancers in.
