Koi losing colour
I have an aka bekko which have been loosing a lot of colour over the summer (primarily red). No other fish in the pond have had such a drastic change. Does anyone know why it might be loosing colour?
She is around five years old and bought from a garden center so I feel like bad genetics is very much a possibility. Have anyone experienced something similar?
P.s. first picture is from may this year and second one is from yesterday. (Sorry for bad pictures)

Its to do with the age and genetics of the koi.
Just like us going grey. Some people go grey earlier than other.5000 Gallon Fibreglassed Pond With 54" x 27" Infinity Window

I've had a kohaku that was 2 years old turn white as a sheet within 3 weeks of coming home with me. Several goldfish too, all of which were raised by me and turned white at different rates and at different ages.
Otherwise all healthy.
I suspect it's something in my water, or water supply, but I've no idea what.
If you solve the mystery please tell me.

I've had two koi lose their red. Poor genetics I think is the main reason and occasionally sun burn can do it too.

Agree with the sun being possible factor as his pond is south facing and no shade all day long
Every day feeding container?
Good shout, I'll have a look at Takazumi :)
