    Half filled pond

    Hi

I need to do some work on my pond and add a new 4" return, replace the Skimmer and possible install a window.

Would you suggest moving the koi to a temporary pond or keep the pond live and drain to approx half filled - 2.5k G ( half filled vol )

I would expect the work to take 5 days max

I need to also replace the complete setup, so I think this would be a lot easier to move them out to a holding pond and set the old system up on the tempory pond and this would mean I can take my time on the project???

think you answered your own question, lot easier drain water into holding vat with existing filter if possible, then empty your pond and do what needs to be done with no worries, andi

I did a full filter upgrade with all fish in the pond and its pretty stressful tbh, trouble is your rushing to speed things up, but then you make mistakes because your rushing, which slow you down.

Personally I thought keeping the pond alive was worth it, because they take so long to mature properly, but your planning much more work than I was doing.

Trouble is if you dont keep the pond alive and turning over, the water after 5 days turned off could be pretty rubbish, so it might need draining completely and then things cleaning.

Move fish into a holding tank.
These jobs always take longer than you think.
My 5 days would end up being 2 weeks!!
