    Spindrifter Bottom Drain

I’ve recently bought a 4” Spindrifter BD with a 1” aeration pipe, but I seem to have problems finding pipe work to fit it I’ve tried 110mm pipe but there seems to be a pretty big gap even though I realise I’ll be sealing it it with silicone? I was just looking for some advice of what other people have used for both air and water pipe and how they did it?

    Many thanks

    Hi
4" Pressure pipe fits like a glove. Don't use silicone, use solvent cement! Silicone won't hold. If you want to use 110mm, you need a shim sleeve that converts 4" pressure aperture to take 110mm metric pipe. You can find them here, but elsewhere too:
Pond plumbing, pipe work and fittings, ball valves, slide valves, bottom drains, everything for the Koi pond

The air hole takes 1" pipe..

    Cheers

    Spindrifter Bottom Drain

110mm won’t fit the 4” drain without something like this:

Bottom Drains - Pond Construction - Absolute Koi

Or just buy 4” PVC pipe instead of 110mm and solvent weld as above, bit more expensive.

Darren also sells all the 1” PVC pipework and fittings:

Class E Pressure Fittings - Pipework & Fittings - Absolute Koi

Have a look at the Direct Air Kit for the Spindrifter also, makes it easier to connect to the air pump - you can find that on the first link I posted above also.

Be sure to glue the dome stem into the socket. Don’t make my mistake and trust it to friction, once it’s submerged with air pump attached it becomes very boyant.
Unless you enjoy swimming in cold water on a regular basis.

110mm is your terracotta sewage pipe. Can ve used with an adaptor but not recommended for higher pressures.
the Grey 4" pressure pipe is what you want to use. It's thicker but more expensive but will fit the spindrifter perfectly.
