Yes mate, its so you can adjust the sensor to suite your running/desired water levels etc..
If you look there is the mounting holes on both clean and dirty sides so you can run pump fed or gravity fed Queni drum sensor

Hi dave, really really sorry im late to reply here (had my notifications turned off for some reason)
To answer your questions , yes mine is pump fed and yes the sensor is in the dirty side. The difference is mine triggers a clean cycle when the dirty side water level gets high and im assuming yours triggers when clean side gets low Queni drum sensor both indicating the screen is blocking.
I only know this to be fair as i actually spoke with mike at queni koi on how to swap them over when i bought the drum as i do plan on running it gravity fed with in the future Queni drum sensor its so simple its unreal ha ha, basically my sensors mounting arm screws into pre tapped holes in the centre partition (the wall between dirty and clean side) the tapped mounting holes are on both sides of this for the sensors bracket to be attached either side. Its just a case of simply taking the bracket off one side and putting it onto the other, only other thing i have to do is turn the sensor the other way round i believe and set to the required level in the clean side that i desire Queni drum sensor

Glad you got it sorted though Queni drum sensor
