I've just turned the stat up to 23C and put the brushes in to see if some of my fatties will drop their eggs. Here's hoping my chag does- she is fatter than yours was Adam

My RO membrane is making water as fast as it can Don't want to increase the pH suddenly by mixing in tap water when the ammonia might spike. I would consider doing that if they don't get on with it in the next few days though.
Fall back is to put the target female in the QT with completely fresh water which would certainly work, but QT is currently drained down and filter offline so would rather not.
They are already chasing around a bit so I think might do the business tonight (mine only ever seem to do the actual spawning between midnight and dawn usually, I think they are shy LOL).2016 new 6000 gallon pond

Just done a partial filter clean up and had a look at the koi. Only 2 koi have spawned and eggs everywhere? No real damage just some pink knackered koi and raised nitrite levels.

These lot came out of the sieve and theres roughly 2 litres worth. I know I've said it before but it's amazing how many egg's they can carry.
The brushes will stay in for another day or two so they can feed on the egg's and just incase any of the others want to spawn.

got brushes in my pond, and dropped temp a bit, it was 22.5, but still no luck, they dont seem interested, dunno why , some girls definitely heavy with eggs.
I wonder if I dont have enough adult males, I just got rid of 3 adult males a few weeks back, I think ive only got one adult male left....is that a problem ?

This is what I always do with the fancy goldfish and get results the next morning about 80% of the time.
The water change is done just before dusk on the night before, just enough water to drop the temp around 2 degrees below the usual morning temps.
Then at 6am I watch until she starts releasing eggs, then hand spawn with different males into spawning trays.
Day 3 after the spawning I get the Brine Shrimp factory up and running.
The advantage with Fancies is you can put them in tanks so its a lot less hassle and a lot less work to drop the temp 2 degrees as you can just bring the tank indoors using water from their outdoor tanks, but always adding some fresh tap water too as that seems to help get them going.

Well so far I have had 2 mornings with a massive foamy mess in the pond. This morning they've been splashing around since around 2am.
The water clarity looks awful, foam everywhere despite the skimmer removing it constantly, and drum is currently cleaning every 10 mins
A bit of the mess

There are eggs stuck all over one of my slate coping stones LOL

The annoying thing so far is my chag who I think most needs to drop her eggs has not yet.
This afternoon I need to drain down the combi drum to fit a new UV bulb, so I will be doing a large water change. Lets see if that sets her off! My asagi seems very keen on her currently.2016 new 6000 gallon pond

eyup bud, how are you ?
Just wondering if its worth p.ping my brushes before they go in?....can parasites or parasite eggs survive outside of water for a year ?
doubt it, probably being paranoid !
I think ill chuck them in this afto and then change some water, see if it kicks anything off, waters at 22c .
