Shiro grow show 1 yr on
Hi all,
We're approaching the one year mark re collecting our grow and shows from AK (15 April 2017). Reason for post is to suggest a one year measure up with photo to see how all the Shiro's are progressing.
If interested, shall we post here to avoid the depths of previous posts or there?
Thanks.
Ian.

Good idea. I need to get my pond covers off before I can catch it though!
Mine has been on quite a strict diet over the winter but is still an absolute pig the second any food goes into the pond2016 new 6000 gallon pond

I don't mind netting mine up over the next few weeks. I can't say there's a massive change as they have been sat at 13.5°c for most of winter. The sumi is just starting to come back slowly.

Sounds like a plan then for anyone interested this time. So post any photos here by 15 April. This is quite nice as for those who may not want to bowl their shiros now, we can always do again in October / November.

I'm not going to be able to bowl mine this week because the covers are still on.
I have new fish coming on Sunday so won't be taking the covers off for a little while yet (so it can't jump out ).2016 new 6000 gallon pond

No worries. All voluntary and really just out of interest. Given warmer weather i
on way, I think my cover will be off in the daytime from tomorrow.
I am still planning to bowl and photo mine as I want to see growth in 12 months.

Here's mine for interest. Sumi needs to work hard for me this year for this to be a keeper.

Looking good koinewbie and David. Looks like quite a bit of development. Mine aren't showing nearly as much sumi.
I'll try and get mine in a bowl over the next few days.

Running heater at low temp?
Covering the pond with polycarb should be enough to stop water temps dipping below 6C for the most...
