I can imagine the 20” version would be alot better with double the capacity of the 10”. I still dont think i would fully trust them though. Plus its the cost of the 20” cartridges

Like most filters it's the quality of the carbon used that matters. There's quite a difference in price between replacement cartridge's. Cheap and not so cheerful are normally crap.
I think the problems with 10" filters there's not enough dwell time and contact with the carbon to remove chlorine and chloramine. These type of filters aren't great at large fast water changes.
They are better suited to trickling water in as opposed to fast water changes that can effect the life of the carbon negatively and shorten it's life.

Oh for sure i agree with you adam it does depend on quality hence why i said about the cost of them
i wasn’t specifically taking about the 20” units and i have no experience with them mate but i have had 2x 10” units. one fairly expensive the other considerably cheaper and both units could not handle even a trickle through here. I had to litrally drip and then i just couldnt trust it.

Running heater at low temp?
Covering the pond with polycarb should be enough to stop water temps dipping below 6C for the most...
