Covering a qt tank
Hi, I have 2 qt tanks, one as a hospital one if needed and a large grow on tank, I heat them both but intend on fitting 16mm triple wall polycarbonate covers, do I need to put vent holes in or should I leave solid? One tank is 300 gallons, the other is 450.
thanks in advance!

You could have the whole thing covered and just have an air hole in one corner. Hole big enough for gaseous exchange but not too large for draughts would be fine.

I was thinking of a 50mm hole in the corner?

What i have done is elevate it a bit on one end so it slopes a little not too much about 1/2 ins, lets any gases escape, support it in two corners so you have a little gap.
I wouldnt go drilling holes in it.John

If you have air stones putting air directly into the tank then you don't need any holes or cracks in the cover. The air will escape naturally through the tiniest of chinks.
If no direct air input then a gap could be left but that somewhat defeats covering doesn't it?
