Hi John, I'm no expert, but you need to keep your water purple for 4 hours ideally. If it's only staying purple for a few minutes, then you need to add quite a bit more!
Keep an eye on the fish all the time and make sure there's loads of air going in. Good luck.1630 Gallon raised pond

and some nice koi

Are you actually treating an infestation of Trich or just using pp as a safe guard?
I'm not the person to give advice on Trich or pp but perhaps a reply or two will get things rolling for you.
The only thing I know is that if the pp turned brown quickly then the organic loading in the pond was high or the pp was under dosed......I think.
Ps
I think you're between a rock and a hard place as far as going away, ideally you'd need to keep an eye on the fish even after treatment.

I think you'll find that most of the off the shelf pre mixed retail pp is just highly diluted pp crystals.
I believe you can obtain pp crystals from high street chemist if you need some urgently.
Might be better to tell them you want it for disinfectant rather than fish treatment.

Water being purple, what shade?, is no gurantee that the water got chemically "hot enough" to burn parasites without frying gills. Use a calibrated ORP meter and slowly add a slury of PP and water to the pond to gradually briing the ORP to around 450mV and keep it there for around 4 hours. Watch the koi like a hawk for an warming signs. After 4-5 hours slowly add ST go gradually bring down the ORP to a more normal 300mV. The brown manganese dioxide will come out of suspension in a couple of days. Do NOT try to bleach it out with peroxide. The koi have already been stressed, peroxide adds insult to injury.

Hi, Go buy some Kursuri PP. There are comprehensive instructions on the package and stick to them! Also you can speak to them directly on a 0800 number from the package and I found them very helpfull indeed!
Summer last year my koi had Trichodina. After talking to Kursuri about how to treat it and I found they was extremely helpful they told me it had to be treated for the maximum time of 15hrs by keeping the water pink. So the day before treatment I got everything ready also hydrogen peroxide 6% in case it was needed and to clear the water at the end of treatment. I was up at 5am and started treating my pond. Soon as the pink went I re-dosed with the PP. This went on all day and lasted till I finished at 1am the next day. Once finished I put in 500mil of Hp to clear the water which made it sparkle when I saw it in the daylight. The fish have been well ever since and I regulary take scrapes to check them. You do what the instructions tell you to do.
If you have any questions you can pm me and/or I will talk you through it on the phone.

I would be cautious with using any treatments in this weather as they will use up oxygen in the pond. The oxygen level will be low due to current high temps in UK.
If you can put it off then do it later once we have cooled down a bit
