Great Day... Great People [umm Pondy umm errr ok him too :P ]... Great hospitality.... Great Koi - both in the Pond and for the G & S...THANK YOU!
Sorry to hear about your problem Glyn, am sure you will bring it through good as new and a super shiro as well.
LOVE the one we came away with, and am really looking forward to how all those superb fish develop. Took a few snaps just before release with my usual pic taking skills [cough]... so>>>>

And a couple more...
Just to say it was nice meeting everyone again...along with the new faces.
Due to the demise of KoiKeepers etc which obviously meant there would be no winner award for last years winner of the grow n show.
I was told some time ago. But someone has offered to buy one for me..now thats is a really nice gesture. Thank you. You know who you are.
Now for some more snappies.

I am going to develop a koi rack n pinion set up this year. Just to give some extra leverage on the length.

Glynn
I would certainly not intervene mate it will heal naturally in your good water.
Try and avoid anything that stresses her, Indeed try and avoid the temptation of netting etc.

Pondy, how about attatching your original photos with their new keepers names.
Then we can watch the progress as they grow through photos uploaded
occasionally by them?

the little one is settling well in and after the initial worry with the bigger fish chasing it around the pond now it take no crap from any of them in less then a day we could not be happier

Hi Guys,
Thanks for a great time and just sorry i could not stay longer and chill with you guys.
Fish all settled down and chilling with the other in the tanks and it doesn't seem bothered that a few other in the tank are a tad bigger
Glyn i agree with Dave you can do more harm than good messing about with it and in good water and a good temperature it will heal in no time.

Ochiba,
i was sorta hoping to have a chat with my mate Lazarus to see if he could make us a sticky post with all the koi with the owners names next to it so we can keep reflecting on them as new pictures appear. they would only have to be sticky for as year....... please
also i would like to give a really big thankyou to Mike Snadden at YUME KOI for sourcing this koi at such a fantastic rate too

Had a great couple of hours down in Essex and good to meet all of you. Number 11 is happily settled into my greenhouse pond and feeding already with the others in there. Hoping he'll grow well and look good! Bit of pressure put on this fish to do well I think!

Hi there,
Could someone please explain how a grow and show works to me? Sorry - I'm new to this.
Is it that someone buys a batch of fish (are they all from the same brood?) and then people who are entering come and pick and buy one from them, take it home then see who's has grown the most in a years time?
How do you get hold of the koi - and how do you decide how much they cost? Are they all different prices? Are these Shiro's very expensive?
Also - do you bring all the fish back to the same place at the end or just post a photo of them?
This sounds like fun, and something I'd like to do - when I've built my pond that is :-)
I'll only be building a smallish pond (about 1800 gallons) - would this mean there's no chance of competing with bigger ponds?
Thanks very much,
Matt

Damn, just saw this thread Any likelihood that this will be a repeated next year ? Looks to my untrained eye like a cracking collection.
Cheers...Freddy.

Get an arm lock on Pondy... so hope its repeated!

i dont think an arm lock will be necessary...as long as we can secure a QT system then i would think that a 2012 G&S will go ahead...although we do need to keep a tight line on pondy to stop him ordering 50 long fin ghost carp.. :-)
