Lol, Thanks
Rear spoiler, loud stereo?
Kohaku in the shed tank is right on the cusp, no eggs released just yet but the odour is there...
Whilst Hot Lips (strange name for a male Koi) is being attentive he could do better - so dropped in some competition.. Within minutes this had refocussed him on the need for body contact.

Interesting stuff this Dave.
So will you hopefully just get kohaku's or can their be a throw back and potential sanke or Showa ?
How long does it take for the fish to hatch from the eggs ?

Hi Dave any news on weather the eggs are fertile, must be hatching soon if they are fertile with your water temps.

No chance with the eggs from the Tancho spawn. They went sour on me Monday.. It may simply have been down to pure weight of numbers...
Kohaku eggs , will see in a day or so but frankly there are a lot of unfertile eggs in there.

Lets hope you get some hatch after all the work you put into it, does the water temp affect weather you get more females or males ?

End of the day Jason the Tancho needed to drop her eggs for her own good and getting her through this with no damage is worth all the effort .. Eggs shed she looks absolutely majestic both body and skin wise...
Pretty sure that the Kohaku spawn is also a flop.. But not crying about it these things happen..
All a bit tight with a few commitments that are coming up to get things all cleaned up and squeeze in another set or two but will have to see.

The most frustrating part was that I left the vat in which the tancho spawned running and recirculating from the main pond after removing the brushes as there were a load and I mean a load of brushes on the sides and base.
These eggs were looking fine and dandy, clear and fertilised....Until day three when they didn't quite look right.
Examined some under the scope....Rather scary Tetrahymenia in big numbers, chilo and some costia...Plus lots of other real weird critters and stuff...
So disconnected the feed / return from the main pond.
12 hours later what a mess in the vat...turned into white sludge.
Main pond fish all behaving OK but there is need to get some MG&F in there over the weekend just to be safe..
