I have an Anoxic filter partly planted. It is not the plants that make the baskets (if that is what you are using) anoxic, the baskets are just a handy place to put plants if you want them in your pond. Half of my anoxic filter is in the dark where no plants will grow. You may find that plants change the PH of your pond.

Some of my planted anoxic baskets have got lillies in them so must be in deeper water, some are marginal plants where the basket is barely covered with water. The best oxygenating plants would be those which have their leaves under the water, out of the water any oxygen is immediately lost to the atmosphere. I tend to think that oxygenation by plants is a bit of a white elephant since you would need tons. I have plants because my wife thinks they look nice.

Thank you for advice HK, yes it does make sense that any oxygenating plants would need to be underwater. It seems then from what you said, that any worthwhile oxygenating is really only done by waterfalls air stones etc and not so much by the plants?.

I think its nice you have plants because your wife thinks they look nice well if and when I actually have a pond to put some plants in, I'm sure my Mrs will appreciate them also
